Introduction to Haitian Creole Language & Culture

Learn about the history, culture, and language of Ayiti (Haiti). This workshop will introduce Haitian Creole grammar using a cultural and historical lens. We will debunk common stereotypes about the Haitian language and learn about the role that Haitian Creole has played as both a revolutionary and historically-undervalued language. At the end of the workshop, you will be able to speak Haitian Creole at a basic level and have familiarity with core concepts around Haitian language and culture. This program is made possible by the generous support of NYS Assembly Member Alicia Hyndman.
